"We have learned that we cannot live alone, at
peace; that our own well-being is dependent on the well-being of
other nations, far away. We have learned that we must live as
men, and not as ostriches, nor as dogs in the manger. We have
learned to be citizens of the world, members of the human community."
Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Kenyan Projects
For many years, Oshkosh Rotary Southwest has worked with African citizens in
the area around Machacos, Kenya. Past projects have included rural
electrification and providing running water, and the club is currently engaged
in a project to assist the process of building a hospital for the community.
Peruvian Projects
The club works with an orphanage in
Lima, Peru. The Club is working with the orphanage to assist
hundreds of children by providing funding and on-site assistance to
the orphanage. A current project at the orphanage is the
installation of a Southwest Rotary-purchased "Soy Cow" machine
which produces a healthy milk substitute from soybeans.

Rotary Youth Exchange
For almost 20 years, the Club and its members have been sponsoring and
hosting foreign exchange high school-age students from abroad for a year in the
U.S. Additionally, the Club recruits American students to spend a year studying
in a foreign country in the sponsorship of another Rotary club.
See the Youth Exchange page for more
information on Rotary Youth Exchange, including application information, costs,
deadlines, etc.
Group Study Exchange
Oshkosh Rotary Southwest regularly participates in this program in which
young professionals from our area each year spend six weeks immersing themselves
in a foreign culture, and by hosting Group Study Exchange participants from
other countries as they visit our area.
