"If we do not lay out ourselves in the service of mankind, whom should we serve?" Abigail Adams |
In partnership with the Oshkosh Boys and Girls Club, Oshkosh Rotary Southwest each year puts on a large wine and food tasting event. Typically attended by nearly 1,000 people, the event produces substantial funding for these two organizations. The proceeds are distributed between the two partnership organizations, and focus on children's causes.
Read all the details about this year's WineFeast! Requires the "Acrobat reader" program. If you do not have the "reader" program, it is available for free:
The Club provides a large number of volunteers to staff two of the weekly Thursday summer concerts in Riverside park, with some of the proceeds from Waterfest returning to the Club for its general charitable funds.
The club performs a rose sale in the fall, with delivery timed to coincide with the opening of deer hunting season. Proceeds return to the club's general charitable fund.
Southwest Rotarians participate in a multi-disciplinary environmental committee focused on the active beautification of our community, as well as environmental preservation activities.
Each year, with the Exchange Club, Oshkosh Rotary Southwest hosts a Christmas party with gifts and a dinner for underprivileged area families, providing many children with the only Christmas they would have.
Working with Oshkosh Family, Inc., Oshkosh Southwest Rotarians volunteer to deliver meals to shut-in individuals throughout our community.
Each year, the Club takes up a collection and delivers basic necessity gifts to those in residence at the Center.
Southwest Rotarians participate each year with the Salvation Army to purchase and wrap Christmas gifts for a number of needy families.
In partnership with Country USA summer music festival in Oshkosh, Southwest Rotary is raffling an exclusive stay in a fully-equipped tour bus behind stage at Country USA 2005. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Make a Wish Foundation. Contact raffle@oshkoshrotarysouthwest.org for more information.
Southwest Rotary has embarked on a new charity fundraising service project -- a family Superbowl party. The inaugural Southwest Rotary Superbowl Party on February 1, 2004 was attended by almost 200 and was a great success. Proceeds from the 2004 event, in part, went to Habitat for Humanity and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
